According to researchers at the Indian Council of Medical Research’s top virology institute, immunity from the two primary doses of vaccines fades significantly after eight months. Booster doses of Covid-19 vaccinations should be administered to all adults to help protect against Omicron as well as other variations of concern (VOCs).

However, the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) will make the final decision on whether or not to give booster doses to adults under the age of 60 Years after considering a variety of other variables, such as vaccine availability.

But, the final decision of providing booster doses to adults below 60 years would be finalized by the NTAGI after considering several other factors, including the availability of vaccines. (ET Healthworld, April 02, 2022)
